The Faculty of Agriculture in Sofia has started the implementation of the activities in the framework of the project "Modernization of higher education for sustainable use of natural resources in Bulgaria" (NatuResEdu) contract № BG05M2ОP001-2.016-0022. The project is funded by the Operational Program "Science and Education for Smart Growth" 2014-2020. The Faculty of Agriculture will participate in activities aimed at modernizing the professional fields "Plant Breeding" and "Plant Protection" in response to the digital transformation of education; increasing the capacity of teachers and students; creating an environment for career development students.

In cooperation with the Technical University of Gabrovo, the Thracian University of Stara Zagora and the University of Shumen "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski" joint curricula will be created.

Five of the leading agricultural universities in Europe are participating in the project, as associate partners, as follows: BOKU University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria; University of Cordoba, Spain; University of Craiova, Romania; University of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest, Romania; University of Agriculture, Krakow, Poland. The project provides funds for mobility of students, PhD students and lecturers in the listed associated partners.

The Faculty of Agriculture in Sofia is implementing a project „Enhancing practical skills of horticulture specialists to better address the demands of European green Deal Initiative“ Hort4EUGreen, № 2020-1-RO01-KA203-080398, funded by the Erasmus+ Program. The project is implemented from 01.11.2020 to 30.04.2023 by a partner network of four countries: Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Turkey with a leading partner, the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest. The project is aimed at increasing the professional competencies of teachers and the development of teaching aids related to various aspects of gardening, in response to the requirements of the European Green Deal. Within the project, an international team will create teaching aids and other training resources on the following topics: Nutritional qualities of horticultural products, Horticulture free of chemical pesticides, Sustainable use of pesticides and monitoring of their residues, Urban horticulture.
