The principal aim of E49 is therefore:

To help the WBP sector to meet future demands and competition from other materials and markets through the scientific-based advance of wood-based panels and their production processes towards higher technical, economic and environmental standards.

The objectives and work programme of E49 are shared between three Working Groups (WG):
- Process optimisation and process innovation.
- Fundamentals and modelling.
- Performance in use and new products.

COST E49
Processes and Performance of
Wood-Based Panels

COST is an intergovernmental European framework for international co-operation between nationally funded research activities. COST creates scientific networks and enables scientists to collaborate in a wide spectrum of activities in research and technology. COST activities are administered by the COST Office.

Chairman: Mark Irle

Duration: 2005 – 2009

Countries participating in COST Action E49

AT, BE, BG, DK, FI, FR, DE, GR, MK, PL, PT, RO, SI,SE, CH, GB

Management Committee Members from BULGARIA:Julia MIHAILOVA and Neno TRITCHKOV

The main objective of this COST Action is the scientific-based advance of wood-based panels and their production

processes towards higher technical, economic and environmental standards. Such improvement is essential if the sec-

tor is to meet future demands and competition from other materials and markets.
