Course objectives:
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students of the Bachelor Degree in Plant Protection Department with the reasons for the infection of pathogens on cultivated plants and hypotheses regarding the nature, principle of action and possibilities for application of plant resistance to phytopathogens. The acquired knowledge during this training course is a necessary and obligatory condition for the development of solid knowledge in agricultural phytopathology, chemical protection, prognosis and signaling of diseases and pests, etc. Master's Degree in Plant Protection.
Course description:
During the course, students in Plant Protection department will be introduced to the main points of the epidemiology and development of the pathological process in plants. The discipline "General phytopathology" deals with fundamental issues related to the development of phytopathology. It presents the basic concepts in phytopathology, origin of science, types of disease classifications, major groups of phytopathogens and their biology, methods for determining disease losses, the relationship between the pathogen - the host - environmental factors, the main directions and methods for control. It includes acquaintance with the main points of the nature and development of the disease process, the mechanisms of attack by pathogens and mechanisms of plant protection, epidemiology, morphology, structure, classification, cycle of development and identification of phytopathogenic viruses, bacteria, phytoplasmas and fungi.
