This discipline is taught in the Engineering Design Master Program. Students are acquainted with specific themes of contemporary design, such as: “Citation in Design”, “Organic Design”, “Nature-Inspired Design”, “Technological Design”, “Minimalism”, etc. The course is devised to widen the interests of design students to different areas of life, such as art, architecture, avant-garde sculpture, traditional art and architecture of the Far East, etc. Students are supposed to acquaint themselves with the design of contemporary designers that seek unorthodox trends in design creativity. In their seminar classes, students are supposed to research the work of acknowledged masters, such as Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, Mark Newson, Zaha Hadid, Ross Lovegrove, Karim Rashid, etc. They must try and understand their logic and develop a design brief by following their example.
