Erasmus+ Programme 2021–2027
The University of Forestry, Sofia, is fully committed to supporting the modernisation and internationalisation of the European Education Area in accordance with the principles of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education for the period 2021-2027. As a specialised public university with strong traditions in nature related and engineering sciences the University recognises the vital role of higher education in fostering sustainable development, innovation, and intercultural dialogue across Europe and beyond.
The University of Forestry considers international cooperation a key driver for enhancing the quality of education, research, and innovation. Through active participation in the Erasmus+ Programme, the University aims to strengthen academic excellence, promote mobility and knowledge exchange, and contribute to building an inclusive and competitive European Higher Education Area. The Erasmus Policy Statement provides a framework for the University’s ongoing modernisation and internationalisation efforts, aligned with its institutional strategy for development and global engagement.
The University of Forestry has been actively involved in international academic cooperation and mobility programmes, including Erasmus+, and confirms its strong commitment to continued participation in all relevant Erasmus+ actions during the period 2021–2027. The University will fully respect and implement the principles of non-discrimination, transparency, inclusion, and equal access as outlined in the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education. It will ensure high-quality mobility opportunities for students, academic and administrative staff, while promoting recognition of study periods and qualifications in accordance with European standards.
Through its engagement in Erasmus+ activities, the University of Forestry seeks to:
- Enhance the quality and relevance of teaching, learning, and research through international cooperation and exchange of good practices;
- Increase student and staff mobility within Europe and with partner countries worldwide;
- Strengthen research collaboration and knowledge transfer in forestry, environmental sciences, and related fields;
- Promote innovation in education, including digitalisation, modern teaching methodologies, and interdisciplinary approaches;
- Foster intercultural understanding, multilingualism, and global competences among students and staff;
- Improve institutional capacity, visibility, and attractiveness for international students, researchers, and partners.
Active participation in Erasmus+ will support the strategic goal of the University of Forestry to strengthen its position as a recognised European centre for education and research in nature related and engineering sciences. The University aims to provide a dynamic academic environment where Bulgarian and international students and staff can develop professional skills, engage in high-quality research, and contribute to sustainable development and responsible management of natural resources at local, European, and global levels.
The University of Forestry will continue to expand its international partnerships, enhance mobility opportunities, and promote excellence, inclusiveness, and innovation in higher education, in line with the objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme and the broader vision of the European Education Area.
