At the end of the year 2000 was bought a programme product “Integrated Library Information System –ILIS-e-Lib.2.0” for the creation of electronic catalogues, including analytical descriptions of books, PhD theses and PhD abstracts, as well as an analytic description of articles from periodicals. To many of the described articles are scanned and added summaries.

In the executed project “Modernization of the Library Information Centre are introduced measures for the improvement of the energy efficiency of the building in which the Library information Centre is located. An accessible architectural environment at The University of Forestry, Sofia has been established by the scheme BG 161PO 001/1.1-07/2009 at the Operative Project Development of Resources (2007-2013),co-financed by the European Union through The European fund for Regional Development.
A whole new system for marking and protection of the library entities has been introduced. Each book is provided with two markers-barcode and RFID. In an attempt for a unregulated carrying out of the book, the protective system, located at the front door is switched on. A sound signal is activated, and the safe portals are closed. The security system includes a network of 16 cameras, covering completely the premises of the Library information Centre. The cameras make 24 hours recordings which could be reproduced when needed.
A modern machine for the digitalization of books has been secured, with multiple functions for the consecutive processing of the materials. Much of the textbooks’ fund has been digitalized, whereas the process continues.
A new software has been added, the modules of which comprise a wide spectrum of activities. The borrowing and returning of literature is done through a marking of a barcode with which each library entity is provided. The new library cards also have a similar barcode, thus facilitating the identification of the visitors. The system allows the Internet users to check their library card online-it is possible to follow the whole history of each borrowing and return. A possibility for online claim in advance for books is added whereas in registration each reader receives user’s name and password for an access to the electronic resources of the Library Information Centre. This includes an opportunity to use the full text digital content whereas at the moment such processing is mainly for old textbooks and manuals which have not been on sale for centuries and have no new editions. Through the new system the users receive an access to educational books, not possible to be used through standard borrowing. Another new thing is that the users could create their own lists with literature in their profile.
At the basic premise are situated 45 numbers of energy-saving work stations, ensuring access to the electronic resources of the Library Information Centre. What is peculiar about them is that they are of the type “Hobit”, which means that they are not autonomous computers but are connected to the central server. In this way is achieved a higher level of security and the risk of problems, connected with a bad software decreases considerably.
The Library Information Centre is supplied with modern climatic system consisting of two outer and 16 inside bodies which ensure the comfort of the readers annually.
