Plant Physiologists from the University of Forestry Took Part in the International Fascination of Plants Day

At the invitation of the Faculty of Biology, the University of Forestry took part in the celebration of the International Fascination of Plants Day with a demonstration stand presented by the Woody Plant Physiology Group at the Faculty of Forestry.

The stand was prepared by Chief Assistant Professor Dr. Zornitsa Karcheva, with the active participation of first-year students Maria Belyova and Maxim Penkov, and with the support of Prof. DSc Svetoslav Anev.

Visitors had the opportunity to explore a variety of scientific instruments and contemporary methods used to study the physiological condition of plants. The exhibition showcased techniques for measuring different physiological indicators directly on intact plants, as well as methods for assessing plant health through the analysis of leaves and fruits.

The live demonstrations attracted particular interest, presenting in an accessible and engaging way how modern forest science studies the vital processes of trees and how this knowledge is applied in practice. Visitors were also intrigued by fascinating facts about forests and the important role trees play in the environment.

More than 50 visitors — including children, school pupils, university students, academics, and guests of the event — visited the stand. Their positive feedback reaffirmed the importance of initiatives like this in promoting plant sciences and forestry education among young people, especially when scientific knowledge is presented in a clear, engaging, and practice-oriented manner.

Participation in the International Fascination of Plants Day provided the University of Forestry with an excellent opportunity to showcase its contemporary research and educational activities in the fields of woody plant physiology and forest sciences to a broad audience.
