On, 23 September 2026, the official opening ceremony for the 2026/2027 academic year took place in Burgas, marking the beginning of educational activities at the newly established branch of the University of Forestry.

With the launch of its educational activities in Burgas, the University of Forestry has not only opened a new chapter in the city, but has also marked a significant new milestone in its own history.

The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the Mayor of Burgas, Mr. Dimitar Nikolov; the Regional Governor, Mr. Diko Dikov; Deputy Mayor Mr. Neno Nenov; representatives of the academic leadership of Burgas State University, Burgas Free University, the National Academy of Art, secondary schools and educational institutions; as well as representatives of the business community, non-governmental organisations, and local media.

Assoc. Prof. Hristo Mihaylov, Rector of the University of Forestry, welcomed the first-year students and assured them that they had chosen degree programmes offering excellent opportunities for their professional development.

The Mayor of Burgas, Mr. Nikolov, also addressed the students. He has played a key role in the initiative to establish the University of Forestry as an educational institution in the beautiful Black Sea city. He congratulated the University’s academic leadership on the considerable effort and commitment invested in turning the initiative into reality. Addressing the students, Mr. Nikolov wished them a successful start to their studies and assured them that businesses and public institutions in Burgas were looking forward to welcoming them as they pursue their professional careers in the city.

Further addresses were delivered by the Regional Governor, Mr. Dikov; the appointed Director of the University branch, Assoc. Prof. Rangelov; and the Chair of the University of Forestry Student Council.

As a symbol of new beginnings, vitality, and sustainability, a tree was planted in St. Trinity Park. Over the years, this living symbol will serve as a reminder to current and future students, faculty members, and the local community of the exciting beginning of the University of Forestry’s presence in Burgas, while witnessing its development in the years to come.

We wish all students and faculty members a successful start to the academic year and many exciting and memorable moments ahead!
